Sundays are one of my favorite days of the week. But, if I'm being honest, since we're on break from schooling, any day is a close second. We've been trying not to have a lot of commitments the past few weeks, after our crazy busy beginning of summer, and it has just been awesome. We still do Bible Study on Wednesday mornings and lunch afterward with Glen's Grandma, the occasional playdate and summer book club and usually take a trip for groceries about once a week. But, when we're home with nothing going on, they boys get time to play and use their imaginations and I get to have a little time to myself after taking care of daily tasks. I really debated taking a break over the summer. Since we're homeschooling we have so much freedom to create a schedule that we really like so, I considered taking a week or so off and then jumping right back in. But, I can't even explain how much we needed this summer. So much more than I realized. We have so enjoyed having time to be lazy, creative and bored these past few weeks. It's really been good for us.

I would probably have to call Saturday my favorite day of the week out of them all. Basically because the week (and work for Daddy) is over, we've usually planned something fun to do together and stores around town are still open if we decide to venture out of the house. Glen and I often watch a movie together on Friday evening after getting the boys to bed, everyone sleeps in a bit later Saturday morning and our day is just really layed back. I love it. 

This past saturday, daddy took two of the boys to check on deer plot stuff and I took two to town for a little fun. JD and Blake went with daddy and, surprisingly, Lucas and, not so surprisingly, Tyler went with me. I had a fun time getting to spoil Lucas a bit and Tyler was just the perfect baby, as always, letting us shop and browse around town while snoozing away or playing in the stroller. I think daddy and the other boys had a good time on the farm as well and I was thankful they didn't have any bear sightings (eek!) after his aunt and uncle spotted one near their home in Grovespring the weekend before. Yikes! Buuuuut, it was a really great day and when everyone came back home we spent the evening watching Toy Story 3, a favorite movie of ours, and soaking up as much of daddy as we can before his Alaska trip. What did you get up to this weekend? Are you ready for school to start back up? We're getting there! I suppose it may be time to get some curriculum though (lol). On this week's to do list!

Neon is something I've been seeing pop up recently. When I first saw it, my mind instantly went back to a few months ago when I thrifted this pretty skirt off the dollar rack. Back when I was still expecting our sweet Tyler and I was kind of like, hmm, do I like it? It is a pencil skirt and I love those. Hmm, should I get it? But, then it was only a buck so I figured, even if I decided that I didn't wear it, I wasn't losing much. I ended up buying it and, now that I'm able to wear it, I'm so glad I didn't pass it up. Who would've thought that neon would be coming into trend right now and this skirt would work perfectly. 

I do love it. Though I've pulled it out of my armoire a few times thinking that I would wear it, I've had a little trouble styling it. For church last Sunday, I decided to pair it with this soft Croft & Barrow sweater I thrifted last year and some white pumps and I loved the result. Comfortable to get me through two services, cozy so all I needed was this light faux leather jacket and, though it got a little wrinkled, it held up pretty well. I added a little statement jewelry to polish off my look and I like how the necklace was bigger than the earrings. I tucked the front of my sweater into the top of my skirt slightly to give me a bit of a waistline, which is always helpful in making me look taller. 

I'm not sure how often I'll be able to pull off the neon trend but, this was one time that I really felt great about it.

When the groundhog predicted an early Spring, I was keen on believing him. Then we had nothing but cold and dreary days to follow. But, this morning was absolutely beautiful! It was like Spring really was here and I was sure bundling up was going to be a thing of the past. Until the hubby told me the forecast for this week and how they are predicting SNOW for Tuesday and I was like oh, that's right, we live in Missouri. No joke. You've seen the weather memes talking all about how we Missourians experience all four seasons in a months time frame? Yea, they're pretty much one hundred percent true.

I do love Spring. Being able to wear one less layer and not have to coordinate a coat with my outfit means more time I can spend in my Sunday morning bubble bath and not standing in my closet trying to decide what to wear. This was one of those mornings. I literally tried on at least six different things before settling quite contentedly on this. I originally wanted to wear slacks but then I was like, hmm, I shaved today. So, then I thought, what about that pretty printed dress I thrifted a while back nwt? But, it didn't flow well with my hair. This went on for another twenty minutes or so and it was a good thing we were going to my in-laws church and not our own because ours starts thirty minutes earlier than theirs and we would have surely been late. Ugh.

Don't you hate that? Those mornings when you wake up with absolutely nothing to wear. I mean, really. Even though my wardrobe has gotten some major improvement over the last few months, I still have days like this. I have things that I love but they just don't sit well on certain days and I just stare and stare and can't for the life of me put together something I'm happy with. It's rough. But, on a lighter note, in times like that I find that if I can pull myself out of the funk I'm in, I can always fall back on the basics that I love. Blake and white are of course at the top of that list. 

And, this top is to die for. It's feminine but just slightly edgy and when I paired it with the skirt it fit instantly. I added in a nude shoe to elongate my legs a bit and I think it worked splendidly. These earrings though? My favorite part of this whole get up. They're Noonday and one of my newest pieces.
